For example, net zero homes must have an airtight building envelope with an air change rate (ACH) of 1.0 or less, while passive houses must have an ACH of 0.6 at 50 pascals of pressure. Fixing air leaks can be an inexpensive way to improve a home's energy efficiency, as it often involves installing materials like weather resistant barriers, tapes, and caulking.
